They are trained of course, to expect walks at certain times of the day. Like Now. They sit, staring at me, making the odd pitiful noise in their collective throats, only to get the evil eye from me and settle down in the floor with a teenager-worthy sigh.
To be honest, I'm walking them more and more now because it is the safest place I can head write.
And boy am I doing my fair share of THAT lately.
I have a 4th Realtors novel to finish. And while the over all (rather tragic) story arc is fleshed out, the middle bits I am writing along the way, filling in the story of a couple of not-so-secondary characters from the first 3 books. The challenge is NOT to retell the whole "Jack and Sara" story over verbatim, but to fill in the missing parts from the first 3 from these characters' perspective. It's harder than it may seem.
Hence the head writing. But I am a notorious head writer. And frankly, I have found myself in odd situations because of it. I've been known to yell out something like "hell yes!" with a fist pump in the middle of the grocery aisle. Or to groan and say "Sh*t, the timeline is f*cked" while driving the soccer taxi. Or, my favorite, to get up in the middle of a beer meeting and hide in the bathroom tapping out notes on my iPhone before I forget them.
Yeah. It's a function of how my mind works I know, a thousand miles a minute.
But it's gonna get worse before it gets better for me. I'm cranking on this Realtors series, unabashedly riding the 50 Shades wave as obviously as I can (don't get me started. I read them I didn't like them. but I am gonna coattail the living sh*t out of her if I can). Because honest to God, if you were even in the least bit intrigued by Christian Grey and that whole thing, I swear on a stack of E.L. James' money you will FLIP over Jack Gordon, hero of my series. Readers are piling up in my FB and twitter accounts, and I'm headed my first (smallish) Rom Con in June to promote it.
And I got release dates for the remainder of "The Turks" as well. The Diplomat's Daughter (prequel) and Flower Passage (final novel release sort of back to back in June) AND Cheeky Blonde, my stand alone (yes I am capable of writing those) brewery intrigue romance releases July 8.
Plus I have contracted an extension of The Realtors series with Tri-Destiny. The Black Jack Gentlemen are coming your way soon...Expansion Major league soccer team in Detroit....and all the fun and mayhem that will entail!
So fair warning, if you see me headed your way with a grocery cart and a faraway look in my eyes, I am not responsible for any damage you incur to your cart or your loved ones.
