For the next few posts, I'm delivering a special treat. DragonCON 2011 was a fun convention and we had the pleasure of hosting three panels for the Electronic Frontier Forum, which were recorded.
Here, is the audio from the first panel we did on WriteSEX.
Panelists include Stella Price, Kiernan Kelly, Stephanie "Flashycat" Burke, Marianne LaCroix and Susan Sizemore. It was a rather fun panel BUT it's NOT work safe.
We swear. A LOT. But the information shared helped several writers in the room that night, helped me solidify another block in my author platform and added another notch in the other author's belts.

ReplyDeleteThe Authority o n Erotic> ?
ReplyDeleteI want to like erotica, I really do but as someone who lives the lifestyle 24/7...I just shake my head.
Woman: with little personality or character or feeling needs or wants a strong dominant man.
Man: Usually protrayed as not a true Dom at all but some asshole. Chases woman, gets her to submit.
The end.
In reality, the relantionships are much more c omplex. I have never come across anything in the world of erotica that reflects that.,
Fun.
ReplyDeleteCool to listen in and thanks for sharing because I didn't find it boring.
Is this a large conference ? How many people were at your panel? Would this DragonaCon be good for a complete novice?
LittleKat - DragonCON is roughly 100k, attendance over 5 hotels in Atlanta over Labor Day Weekend. It WAS overwhelming but having support from friends helps a LOT.
ReplyDeleteThe panel DID fill the room. We had almost 100 people in the room during this first panel of ours.
I'd give it a go but if you're not comfortable around people, go with someone. Find some veteran. It has potential to be a really great experience but it's exhasting. I might post a tips blog on APA for cons in the future!
DarkCav - Some of us do erotica better than others. It's a tough genre even though many write it.
Yeah....DarkCav, sorry but your rundown of why erotica sucks just shows that you haven't read much of it. I find those issues more in romance books. Erotica...with the kink and all....there is always some sort of emotion that comes into play. Even if the book isn't well written; there at least trying for some emotional draw. *sighs*
