Book Feature: Tuatha and the Seven Sisters Moon

Halloween is almost here, and with APA's permission I'm doing a final home-stretch Book Blitz for my upcoming novel, Tuatha and the Seven Sisters Moon. It debuts on Halloween, and is currently available for pre-order through Amazon. The Limited Edition is available only through my website, and it will never be sold in stores. What's unique about this book? First, it holds a secret chapter that will never be reprinted. The cover is a dedication to this chapter, and to my former home of Salem, Mass. Each hardback copy will be personalized and signed, and the price includes shipping and handling.

PRESS RELEASE:

It's only a few days before trick-or-treaters line the streets, and the much-anticipated launch of Tuatha and the Seven Sisters Moon by new author D. VonThaer. The first question asked seems to always be, "What is your book about?" The natural response would be 'mythology' but somehow that doesn't seem to cover all of the bases. It doesn't even quite get to first. Imagine asking Frank L. Baum [The Wonderful Wizard of Oz] the same question and receiving this for an answer, "Witches."

Tuatha and the Seven Sisters Moon is the first in the Tuatha series, and the story begins on Halloween, where a full moon lights the way for trick-or-treaters. The Seven Sisters Constellation meets the moon at midnight, paving the way for sleeping legends of the past to awaken. The story begins with the Tuatha De Danann [The People of Danu] of ancient Ireland mythology, and what happens when the stars, literally, align.

What's particularly goose-bump producing is the modern take on the story, and the real-life events that have been woven into the story. For example, every ancient culture believed the Seven Sisters Constellation is synonymous with catastrophe. A full moon on Halloween? It doesn't happen as often as you'd think. In fact, the last time this happened was in 2001. Is your skin tingling yet?

The twenty-three chapter 418 page tome is packed with emotion, friendship, love, and devastation. It's very clear this volume is only the tip of the proverbial iceberg in the Tuatha series. It sets you up for things to come, and leaves you wanting more. It's thought producing prose and graphic imagery allows you to sink your reading teeth into vivid scenery, and open your heart to the characters drawing you in page after page.

The paperback edition is available for pre-order through Amazon and will be hitting other retailers next week. The limited edition is ONLY available through the website while supplies last. There will never be a re-printing. The secret chapter will never be published in any other format.

Pick up a copy of this limited edition and hold onto a literary gem that will be a collector's item in a few short years. Once they're gone, they really are just that: gone. Every copy will come with a matching bookmark, and anyone who participates in this Book Blitz will receive free promotion back as a grateful thank-you. Thoughtful Thursday: Its A Solitary Kind of Thing

Your solitude will be a support and a home for you, even in the midst of very unfamiliar circumstances, and from it you will find all your paths.
Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet

Without great solitude no serious work is possible.

Pablo Picasso

What is necessary, after all, is only this: solitude, vast inner solitude. To walk inside yourself and meet no one for hours—that is what you must be able to attain. To be solitary as you were when you were a child.
Anneli Rufus

The soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Our language has wisely sensed the two sides of being alone. It has created the word 'loneliness' to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word 'solitude' to express the glory of being alone.
Paul Tillich

Only solitary men know the full joys of frienship. Others have their family; but to a solitary and an exile, his friends are everything.
 Willa Sibert Cather

Again and again I am brought up against it, and again and again I resist it: I don't want to believe it, even though it is almost palpable: the vast majority lack an intellectual conscience; indeed, it often seems to me that to demand such a thing is to be in the most populous cities as solitary as in the desert.
 Friedrich Nietzsche

Book Feature: Broken Life, A Fight Forever Book 1, Vangie Williams

Broken Life--A Fight for Forever is a must read for historians, romanticists, adventurers... and you!

This is a romantic tale of steamy passion and boiling fervor, which also wraps itself in the arms of virtually unexplored history.  Moreover, this zeal-filled story crosses time-lines, racial lines, cultural lines as well as the vast Atlantic.  From generation to generation to generation, a special lineage of rare love is interrupted, entwined lives are broken, and fragile dreams are shattered because of an unrelenting curse rooted in Africa.  Yet, the rigorous fight to break the curse's menacing grip steadily climaxes as young Bethel gains wisdom through her visions as well as the truths spoken from her father's reluctant tongue and the cherished wooden box, a treasured but mysterious heirloom, which connects Bethel to both the curse and a counter to the same.  Upon possessing the box, Bethel discovers the nearly elusive path to victory. Through a series of visions, which first take her to the mid 1800's, she sees the way...

Bethel first envisions Marguerite; French-born; Classy and elite; Stunningly beautiful; and Exceptionally intelligent.  At the young age of eighteen, Marguerite is her father's pride and his joy.  Jean-Pierre dotes on Marguerite and sends her on holiday to the new country of America.  He has entrusted Marguerite's care to Julia.  Julia is a surrogate mother who reared Marguerite from birth.  She gladly filled the void when Marguerite's mother sacrificed her own life while birthing her daughter.

Nearly as soon as her feet touch American soil, Marguerite's delicate, genteel life changes drastically. Unbelievably so, she first meets her future husband, Thomas, and, indeed, finds herself married to him in a day's time.  This chance meeting becomes the beginning of a chain of events. The very day Marguerite arrives in America, she suddenly becomes alone when Julia suddenly passes away. Jubilation and excitement give way to emotional turmoil, which she never anticipated, particularly on this journey. Thankfully, Thomas comes to her rescue and offers security and protection through marriage, even though subtle traces of Negroid blood peek through her fine features--a recipe for trouble in the zenith of American slavery. However, Thomas has a veil of secrecy of his own, one of which young Marguerite is totally unaware.  To reveal his clandestine activities at the inception of their union would endanger them both.

By horse and carriage and riverboat, their adventure in America includes meeting the brother of Thomas (and the woman that is surprisingly his wife), the buying of slaves as well as brilliant land purchases.  The whirlwind adventure of Thomas & Marguerite intensifies their rich love, and the birth of their baby.

Visions of Marguerite's broken life supply incentive for Bethel to fight for forever...

Book Review: Sensitivity 101 for the Heterosexual Male

Author House
ISBN-10: 1438967446
ISBN-13: 978-1438967448

This book had us stumped.
How do you write a review from an author who says, “I’m not a writer!”
And give a review of this type of book without giving away spoilers?

SENSITIVITY 101 FOR THE HETEROSEXUAL MALE  Is an unique memoir.
With this book, Philip Nork has invited the reader into his life and like all life experiences, the stories that have emerged are ripe with feeling and diversity.
This book can be a little off-putting, it can be seen as some guy recalling every woman he ever met and writing a little bit about them.

Honestly, it took a couple of chapters to get past that concept.
As I continued to read, I realized obviously these women were memorable enough to leave strong impressions and teach some pretty strong life lessons.
Sensitivity 101 for the Heterosexual Male is reflections of a discovery of self and the quest for acceptance and finding happiness.
If you like memoirs that are honest, different and give you a peek into behind closed doors, this is a read for you.
