The biggest criticism I receive about Authors Promoting Authors has to do with comments.
Authors complain that not many people comment on the book features. Readers complain that when comments are left, authors don't respond, or they don't leave comments because they aren't sure if an author will read them.
I do not think comments are indicative of how many people read this blog.
And I can't force people to comment.
But...I have a proposal which will only work if enough interested authors are open to the idea.
After the week of the May 10th, what if each week, I feature an author and their book. And what if an author gives away a copy of their book to a commenter of their choosing?
Thoughts? Suggestions? Feedback?
Any comment at all?
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me. Of course, I try to comment whenever possible (and appropriate).
ReplyDeleteI think this is an excellent idea (i'm not an author btw). I think that in a lot of places (not refering to here or anything) - there is a lack of interaction on both sides. and to be honest its up to the author to put in the effort and reach out to readers cause they're trying to sell something.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea. Start off with a few authors who have really strong web & blog presences, (PJ Hoover comes to mind) for example. People like that will be great about spreading the word as to where they are guest posting and draw people to comment and into the routine of a new author/give away every week.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
I am in...Since my covers are on the risque side, I am sure I will get some rather interesting comments. Plus, my idea of writing 12 stories from both the man's and woman's point of view is bound to draw some good and bad comments I would think. :-)
ReplyDeleteSure. I'm in!
ReplyDeleteInteresting concept.

Count me in too!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great idea.
ReplyDeleteA lot of blogs do the same thing when they have guest interviews.
I'm game. Tell me when it starts
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea. I would love to participate as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me!!!
ReplyDeleteBooks? Did someone say books? I think that's a great idea. I'm sure it would increase participation. From what I've seen on other blogs that do giveaways, they see a huge spike in comments on those particular posts.
ReplyDeleteI'm in.
ReplyDeletesounds good
ReplyDeleteMe, too - These are always successful...:)
ReplyDeleteSuch a thoughtful idea, Tina-Sue. Count me in, too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great deal to me. You're right; authors do need to respond when someone takes the time to comment. I do try to go back and do so, but sometimes forget. A giveaway is a great incentive. A Genie in the House of Saud: Zubis Rises is in!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea! I'm happy to participate. :)
ReplyDeleteNo problem
ReplyDeleteOh my.
ReplyDeleteWhat have I done now?
21 comments and 165 emails later...
tis all good.
Its nice to know authors would be up for this.
Look for a post explaining this idea more after the Authors Promoting Authors Cares event (May 10th to May 16th)
Thanks, everyone!
Sure. This is the place to promote your book, so I'm game. I am an author and I'm willing to provide a copy of a book.
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested in seeing how you organize this.
yeah that's a good idea. I like it.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI am the authorof Peter Carrot-top and Imaginary Friends and I will like to give a free book away email me viviyjackson@aol.com
