Q. How do I participate in Authors Promoting Authors?
Check the New Features tab here to find instructions on what to include in your email to participate in Authors Promoting Authors. Please make it clear what feature you are interested in being apart of.
Q. Why Are you doing this? How did it all start?
Authors Promoting Authors started by posting a book blurb, links and a book cover. The author would then take the book posted before them and repost it on their blog, this is where the current version of the Book Feature comes from.
This year, the author only has to take the book blurb and repost it on their blog with a link back to Authors Promoting Authors. The idea was to use blogs (being a communicative medium) to attract new audiences to authors and their books, like word of mouth in blog format.
When I first started marketing my novel, I came across a site that made my heart sing.
It was (and probably is) a site devoted to authors and their books, people networking and wonderful publicity.
This site requires you to fill out oodles of paperwork to be considered.
I was rejected.
Since then, I have been trying to come up with a way in which authors can support each other and promote their books.
Hence, Authors Promoting Authors was born.
Q. Do You Get Paid To Do This?
Nope.
On the upside, I get to hear about great new books and meet other authors.
I feel like I am doing something to promote writing on the whole.
Considering the greatest latest technology crazes, sometimes I have nightmares about the novel dying out.
If you would like to give back, consider making a donation or inquire about the many freelancing services I provide or hire this artist.
Q. What Won't You Post?
I will not post books that are offensive or violent.
By "offensive", I mean what most people would consider offensive, "A Manual On How To Create A Holocaust" for example, by "Violent", I mean material that advocates violence (this doesn't mean murder mysteries or thrillers) like, "How To Terrorize Women", extreme examples but hopefully you understand the point.
Q. Will you post erotica, or GBLT genre books?
Absolutely.
Q. Can my publicist contact you?
Yes, your publicist may send an email containing all of the necessary information for whatever feature you are interested in being on.
Sending me an email instructing me to contact your publicist, I will ignore.
Q. I Sent You An Email But Haven't Heard From You…
If it’s a genuine email asking about APA or a a book, I will always reply. If you haven't heard from me, chances are I did not receive it, please send it again.

I share your concern for the future of books. The end of mass market books would reduce the skill of reading to a fringe minority activity. Our technology could easily allow people to communicate by speaking and listening through technology and we would risk losing the skill of literacy which enables people to access information and ideas for themselves. I don't mean to sound preachy, but I think you're fulfilling an important role.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on turning ONE !!
ReplyDeleteI applaud the aims of this group. Together we can improve the lot of our author and small publisher community. We just have to spread the word about the group to get more participation.
I'm working on our next 2 books that are due out this fall and will update you as we get closer to the publishing date.
Keep on doing what you are for all of us.
